Where is the 'peace of God that transcends all understanding'?

Christians today vary little compared to "the world" when it comes to levels of anxiety, depression, divorce, and hopelessness.
Why is this the case?

While there is no easy answer, part of the issue is that so often well-intentioned folks who love God, want to know Him more, or perhaps have "known" Him their entire life find themselves detached from a meaningful relationship that produces those beautiful promises we hear about in Scripture. Their hearts are empty, their closest relationships suffer, and they feel, at best, a shell of a person trying to keep it together.

Church history and Tradition tells us of many saints who endured unthinkable loss and persecution, received with jubilance and rejoicing. How is this so? What does a monk in the dessert and a child mauled by lions have that the modern-day American Christian lacks?

Though we haven't met yet and I don't know your story, I can say this with confidence: Christ lived and died that we might have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Will we lack suffering? Of course not, but "we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37). Our God is the great "Lover of Mankind," who is passionately, expectantly available to meet you in your unique story with His love and grace given through His Church.
